UNP Parliamentarian S. M. Marikkar has moved a personal motion seeking to give death penalty for those directly connected to terrorism.
The motion has been presented to the Secretary General of Parliament today.
In the same motion, Marikkar has also proposed to confiscate the properties belonging to those involved in terrorist-related activities.
Meanwhile, speaking in Parliament today, President Maithripala Sirisena said thirteen safe-houses and 41 bank accounts owned by terrorists responsible for April 21st attacks have been identified and the accounts, houses and property will be confiscated.
The President added that of the 56 suspects who remain in custody over their direct involvement in the Easter Sunday explosions 12 are hardcore terrorists. "This is a very serious situation," the President said.
