Speaker Karu Jayasuriya requested President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to speak in one voice when it comes to matters related to national security. "When I meet the religious leaders, diplomats, business community, and the general public at large, they all have the same request: the government should speak in one voice. I request the President and Prime Minister to kindly pay heed to this request to build confidence of all, " Jayasuriya tweeted this morning. The Speaker of Parliament, over the last few days, held discussions with a number of religious and community leaders on the current situation in the country. Meanwhile, speaking in Parliament today, Jayasuriya said strict security measures have been implemented to ensure the security of Parliament as there a grave threat to its safety. The Speaker also requested all Parliamentarians to cooperate with the security officers to ensure the safety of the House.
