Facebook, WhatsApp and other social media sites remain blocked in Sri Lanka following clashes that erupted between two groups in Negombo yesterday. Although there is no official announcement from the government so far, informed political sources said the decision was made as a precautionary measure. They added some people attempted to broadcast clashes in Negombo live on Facebook and worsen the situation. Police also imposed curfew in the Negombo police division and deployed more security personnel to restore normalcy in the area.
