Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe met with Malcom Cardinal Ranjith at his official residence last evening to discuss security arrangements for churches across the country.
State Minister of Defence, Ruwan Wijewardena, Minister of Power and Energy Ravi Karunanayake, Kavinda Jayawardena, Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne and IGP Pujith Jayasundara also joined the meeting.
The Cardinal thanked the Prime Minister for his support in the aftermath of the Easter Sunday terror attacks which targeted three Churches and three hotels. The government has provided the Bishops of the country with security from the armed forces, while also assuring security for Sunday Mass.
The Prime Minister went on to explain how the compensation to the families of the victims and the injured would be paid, while also assuring that upon completion of the investigation the government would undertake the re-construction of the damaged Churches.
