The Archbishop's House says all Easter Sunday masses scheduled for this evening have been cancelled following the bomb explosions earlier today.
Meanwhile, the Education Ministry has announced that all government schools will remain closed tomorrow (22) and day after (23) following the attacks.
The security has been tightened at the Katunaike International Airport and passengers have been instructed to arrive at the airport four hours prior to their flights.
Police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera says security has been beefed up across the country and the law enforcement authorities have been instructed to remain vigilant of development.
The public has been asked to remain indoors.
