Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa today denied reports that former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa has been served summons in the US.
"As far as we’re aware Gotabaya Rajapaksa never received summons of any form. Not sure if I’m appalled or amused by the lengths some people will go to publicize unsubstantiated claims based on strategic propaganda, " he tweeted.
However, multiple reports indicated that Rajapaksa was served notice today on two separate cases; the murder of former Sunday Leadet Editor Lasantha Wickrematunga and torturing Roy Samathanam, a Tamil Canadian who was under the custody of the TID during Rajapaksa's tenure as the Defence Secretary.
Rajapaksa was reportedly served notice at a parking lot of a grocery store while he was holidaying on California.
