A police officer of the Special Task Force (STF) attached to the Temple Trees killed himself this morning by shooting with his service weapon. 

The incident took place near the front entrance of Tempe Trees, the official residence of the Prime Minister. 

Police sources said the STF officer shot himself while on duty. 

Further investigations are underway to establish whether the death was an act of suicide or an accident.
