Niel Hapuhinna, the third defendant in the case involving former President's Chief Of Staff Gamini Senerath, was acquitted by the Special High Court today.
The case was taken up this morning before Judges Sampath Abeykoon, Sampath Wijeratne, and Champa Janaki Rajaratne.
The bench announced that Hapuhinna, the third defendant of the case, would be acquitted today without calling defence evidence.
Special HC judge Sampath Abeykoon also stated that defence evidence would be called for the other three defendants in the case. The case was postponed to May 06.
The Attorney General had filed the case against in the Special High Court against the President’s Chief of Staff Gamini Senarath and three others under the Public Property Act for allegedly misappropriating Rs 500 million funds belonging to Litro Gas Lanka.
