Nadeemal Perera, the son of popular singer Amal Perera, and another person who was arrested in Dubai with underworld figure Makandure Madush, have been deported from Dubai.
Police sources said the two individuals are currently in the custody of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
Police sources said they returned to the country early this morning and were taken into custody by the CID at the Katunaike Bandaranaike International Airport.
They are expected to be released soon.
It was earlier revealed that Nadeemal Perera was cleared of drug-related charges when his blood samples were tested by Dubai authorities.
Amal Perera and other suspects who were arrested in Dubai earlier this year continue to remain in detention in Dubai.
