The case against former UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake is likely to end soon with all parties informing the court that they are ready to withdraw from the case, Asian Mirror learns.
Attanayake was prosecuted for forging a document in the run-up to the last Presidential election.
The former General Secretary of the UNP defected to the Rajapaksa camp at the last moment and accused the UNP of signing a secret agreement with the TNA.
Addressing a press conference in Colombo, Attanayake presented a copy of the alleged agreement signed between the UNP and the TNA.
It was later revealed that the signatures of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and TNA Leader R. Sampanthan appearing in the document have been forged.
Attanayake, who was later arrested over the investigation, was remanded for several weeks.
