Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday reiterated that the death of Rugby player Wasim Thajudeen was due to an accident.
Addressing an SLPP event in Kegalle, Rajapaksa said the current government launched a "political investigation" into the death portraying it as a murder.
"Only Knight Rider could have saved him from a vehicle travelling at 175 kmph, " Rajapaksa added.
Opposition Leader said the current government even set up special courts to selectively prosecute leading figures in the opposition.
The CID, however, has officially informed to the court that the Rugby player had been murdered.
It has also been established that Thajudeen was subjected to torture before being murdered.
The CCTV footage has indicated that Thajudeen was followed by several vehicles minutes before his death.
