Navindu Ratnayake, the son of SP Prasanna Ratnayake, was remanded until April 01 over the hit-and-run involving the Traffic OIC of Borella Police.

Prasanna Ratnayake is a senior officer attached to the President's Security Division (PSD). 

It is suspected that Ratnayake drove the vehicle which hit the Borella Traffic OIC's motorcycle. 

The Police officer, who was seriously injured due to the accident, later succumbed to his injuries. 

Several others including Ranishka Aluthgamage (the son of UPFA MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage) and Duminda Attygalle, a UNP Colombo Municipal Councillor, were arrested and later released on bail.
