Supreme Court today issued a restraining order against Nagananda Kodithuwakku preventing him from practising as a lawyer for three years.
The Supreme Court ruled against Kodithuwaaku for making a statement in the open court causing inconvenience to former Court of Appeal Chairman Vijith Malalgoda who currently serves as a Supreme Court judge.
The ruling was delivered by a three-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Nalin Jayalath Perera, Sisira de Abrew and Prasanna Jayawardena.
Kodithuwakku, a public interest lawyer, has already declared his intentions to run for the presidency in 2020.
