President Maithripala Sirisena expressed his disappointment with the government of Singapore for not making a clear statement about the whereabouts of former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran. 

The President, addressing the launch of the national anti-corruption action plan this morning, described Mahendran as the "main accused in the Bond case." Mahendran, who left the country last year,  is believed to be hiding in Singapore, absconding the Sri Lankan law enforcement authorities. 

Sirisena, on several occasions, said he requested the government of Singapore to send Mahendran, a Singaporean national, to Sri Lanka in order to prosecute him over the bond scam. 

The Sri Lankan President also said at a news conference earlier this month that he had made a request from Singaporean Prime Minister Li Hseign Loong during his last visit to Singapore.

Sirisena's request, however, has not elicited a positive response from the Singaporean government.
