The UPFA MP group supporting President Maithripala Sirisena will decide on their position on the budget tomorrow, party sources said.
Speaking to Asian Mirror, a senior party spokesman said they were not in a position to support the budget presented to Parliament last week by Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera.
However, he added that there are differences within his camp on whether to abstain from voting or to vote against the budget.
"The final decision on this matter would be made tomorrow. All party MPs would stand by the collective decision," he added.
Meanwhile, UPFA MP Shantha Bandara, a supporter of President Sirisena, said the UPFA group had unanimously decided to vote for the President's Expenditure Head.
A group of UNP backbenchers have already threatened to vote down the President's Expenditure Head in Parliament.
The move, however, has not elicited a positive response from UNP senior holding cabinet, state and deputy ministerial positions.
