OIC of the Colombo Crime Division Neville Silva has been transferred to the Police headquarters with immediate effect. 

It is learnt that the OIC has been transferred after he refused to carry out an illegal order given to him by a senior officer. 

Sources said the senior officer had ordered Silva to shoot a suspect who was arrested on drug-related charges.  The officer had reportedly put a log entry on the illegal order which he refused to carry out. 

The Police Department had informed the OIC that the transfer was prompted by service requirements. 

The National Police Commission has also been kept in the dark about the transfer of the Police officer.
