President Maithripala Sirisena today visited the OIC of the Borella police station who is currently receiving extensive medical treatment at the Colombo National Hospital after an accident in Bambalapitiya last week. 

Ranishka Aluthgamage, the son of UPFA MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage, UNP Colombo Municipal Councillor Duminda Artigala, Omesh Ratnayake, the Son of President Security Division SP Pradeep Ratnayake were arrested by the police over the hit-and-run that left Traffic OIC of the Borella police station critically injured.

Aluthgamage and Attygalle were later released on while Ratnayake, the son of the senior Police officer, was remanded.

However, the Police have come under severe criticism for 'twisting' the case ensure the release of "political sons" who were involved in the accident.
