The JVP says it will initiate disciplinary action against former Parliamentarian K.D. Lalkantha who is currently in remand for committing a in accident while being on the influence of alcohol.
The former MP was arrested in Anuradhapura last week over an accident that injured two women.
A JVP senior spokesman said the party's internal disciplinary process would begin after the court releases the former MP on bail.
He asserted that the JVP would not be complacent about its top-tier leaders violating the law of the land.
Lalkantha is also in charge of the JVP's trade union activities.
