Four members of the committee appointed by former Media Minister Mangala Samaraweera to suggest reforms for state media — namely Prof. JayadevaUyangoda, Anomaa Rajakaruna, Kaushalya Fernando and Sudarshana Gunawardana have resigned from their posts.
The purpose of the committee was to explore ways to transform Sri Lanka's state-owned media into public service media. The reason for their resignations, however, is not entirely clear.
The resignation came just days after the appointment of Ruwan Wijewardena as the non-Cabinet Media Minister.
All state media institutions have now been placed under the non-Cabinet Minister and he is expected to appoint new state media heads.
