Sri Lanka has urged both India and Pakistan to act in a manner that ensures security, peace and stability in the region.
Issuing a statement, the Foreign Ministry of Sri Lanka said the country supported all endeavours towards diffusing tensions, including the resolution of bilateral problems through dialogue and building confidence.
"As a country that has suffered from the scourge of terrorism for nearly three decades, Sri Lanka has unequivocally condemned this terrorist attack in Pulwama and stands firmly by the fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,” the statement also added.
Sri Lanka's statement said shortly after Pakistan claimed that it has shot down an Indian aircraft inside Pakistani airspace. The statement released by Pakistan says that the Pakistani troops were able to arrest one Indian pilot.
"In response to Pakistan Air Force's (PAF) strikes this morning as released by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Indian Air Force crossed LoC. PAF shot down two Indian aircraft inside Pakistani airspace. One of the aircraft fell inside AJ&K while other fell inside IoK. One Indian pilot arrested by troops on ground while two in the area," said Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor, spokesperson of the Pakistani armed forces said in a tweet.
