President's Security Division (PSD) SP Pradeep Ratnayake's son has surrendered to the police claiming he drove the Defender that ran over Borella Police Traffic OIC early this morning. 

Critically injured, the Borella OIC is currently receiving extensive medical treatment at the Colombo General Hospital. 

The initial investigations have revealed that a had beaten a red light at the Borella junction and hit OIC's motorcycle.

The OIC had thrown about 40 feet on impact with a speeding Defender. The fallen Police officer had then been run over by the same Defender driven by the SP's son.

It is also speculated that the son of a former Minister is also involved in the accident. Police investigations are currently underway to arrest the youth who drove the vehicle that first hit the Police officer.
