Police have revealed horrific details about the murders of two businessmen in Rathgama by a "Police" gang.
Police Media Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera said the two businessmen had been murdered inside a house in the Akmeemana area and later taken to the Medagangoda forest reserve where their bodies were burnt.
The two businessmen, aged 31 and 33, were abducted by the Police criminal gang in January.
Two police officers have so far been arrested over the heinous crime. Meanwhile, all officers of the Southern Province Special Investigations Unit have been transferred out.
Southern Province DiG Ravi Wijegunawardena has also been transferred to the Police Headquarters.
Police sources said the Police criminal gang bore strong resemblance with the 'death squad' operated by former DIG Vass Gunawardena who was later convicted for his crimes.
