Police have arrested and charged two youth who were taking pictures atop a small stupa inside the Mihintale sacred area.

The two youth are residents of the Muttur area, initial police investigations have revealed. Police sources added that they were students of an Arabic language training centre in the Nittambuwa area. 

The Miintale police had made the arrest and are conducting further investigations. 

It is learnt that they will be produced before the court tomorrow. 

Last month, the police arrested seven South Eastern university students who had captured photographs while standing on top of the historic Kiralagala Stupa.
