IT and Digital Infrastructure Minister Harin Fernando said digitalization of government offices will drastically reduce corruption in the state sector
Addressing the launch of the digitalization programme of the Colombo Municipal Council yesterday, Fernando said e-platforms and digitalization would stop money being sneaked into government offices inside files.
"It will be a permanent solution to many problems we face today. As payments are made on online platforms, there will be no room for corruption."
Fernando added many government offices would soon follow he example set by the Colombo Municipal Council.
He welcomed the digital initiative launched by the council and said digitalization was the only way forward.
The digitalization of the Colombo MC has been carried out under the guidance of Colombo Mayor Rosy Senanayake.
It was a key promise in her election manifesto launched before the Local Government election earlier this year.
