President Maithripala Sirisena, at an event to commemorate journalists yesterday (19) said he had begun his career as a journalist for the ‘Lake House.’
President Sirisena had disclosed that he had worked as the Polonnaruwa correspondent for ‘Lake House’ at the age of 19 and continued there for close to seven years.
While working as a correspondent for ‘Lake House’ the President had also worked as a ‘grama seveka’ or village official in Polonnaruwa.
President Sirisena is not the only current leader to have begun his career at the prestigious ‘Lake House’ – Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had worked there as well.
