Vasudeva Nanayakkara's party, the Democratic Left Front, is under fire for sending a 65 year old trade union activist to attend a world youth and student festival, in Moscow, Russia.
Mahinda Kandagama, a trade union activist and an ardent supporter of Rajapaksa, attended the festival last week, representing Vasudeva's party.
Kahandagama was the oldest person to attend the youth in which representatives of over 130 countries participated.
Kahandagama faced litigation for charges of financial fraud which he allegedly committed under the previous government.
He was accused of collecting ransom money from shops coming under the purview of Colombo Municipal Council.
