UPFA MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage, who was removed from his SLFP electorate organiser post yesterday, said the battle to send the current government home would be started at the next Local Government election.
"People don't vote for characters. They vote for principles. We stand with the right principles of the SLFP. so, they will give the right answer at the next election," Aluthgamage said, addressing a meeting in Nawalapitiya yesterday.
The meeting was organised by his supporters who welcomed the MP after losing the electorate organiser post.
"The person who has replaced me is essentially a UNPer. He was with the UNP until he was made an electorate organiser. Now, the SLFPers in the seat are led by a UNPer," Aluthgamage said.
"The most popular MPs, who topped the preferential votes lists at the last Parliamentary election, are being removed from their electorate organiser positions."
"We have a mandate not to stand with the UNP. Our mandate is to lead the anti-UNP struggle. We will soon form a platform for that and all leftist forces will align with us," the MP added.
