Although the United National Party (UNP) is yet to prove their ability to manage the economy, they have proven their ability to rob banks, JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva said.
"All the top notch members of the party, including the Prime Minister, are involved in the bond fiasco. The Bond Commission is exposing everything," Silva said, addressing a public meeting, yesterday.
"It has been revealed that the Prime Minister advised the Central Bank to issue bonds. It was revealed by none other than Arjuna Mahendran, the former Governor of the bank. It was also revealed at the commission that the former Finance Minister had instructed all state banks to bid low. All this is well-orchestrated," the General Secretary added.
He also said it was a friend of the UNP who was involved in robbing a bank in Taiwan recently.
"So it's no longer longer. They have now reached the global levels," the General Secretary said, adding that the UNP, the main political party within the ruling alliance, had set new records in robbing banks.
