Due to the active cloudiness in the Western, Southern and South Eastern sea areas intermittent showers or thundershowers can be expected in the deep and shallow seas areas over the next 18 hours, the Meteorological Department said at noon yesterday.

It said the coast extending from Negombo to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota would be particularly affected with temporary gusty winds of about 70-80kmph expected during the thundershowers

The Met. Department warned the public – especially naval and fishing communities –  to be vigilant and rough seas can be expected during this period.
