The National Child Protection Agency (NCPA) has organized a walk and a national event in commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child, which falls today.
A special walk will be held to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child, NCPA Chairperson Attorney-at-Law Marini De Livera said.
The walk will begin at the Independence Square and end at the BMICH; the hope is to create awareness about empowering the girl child and to protect the girl child from all abuses.
Messages will be displayed on banners and posters while leaflets will be distributed to educate the public, NCPA Chairperson Marini De Livera said.
The walk will conclude with a national ceremony at the Nugasevana Hall at BMICH to empower the girl child and protect her from abuses, the NCPA said.
The 1929 Hotline to report abuses will also be promoted at the two events, the NCPA said.
