Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) Chairman Sudharshana Gunawardene has been appointed the Acting Director General of the Government Information Department.

Director General of the Government Information Department Dr. Ranga Kalanasooriya resigned from the position on September 29.

Sudharshana Gunawardene is an Attorney-at-Law and served as advisor to the Prime Minister of Non-Governmental Organizations in 2015.

He was the co-founder and Executive Director of ‘Rights Now Collective for Democracy’ a Sri Lankan civil society organization.
