Parliamentarians Namal Rajapaksa, Prasanna Ranaweera, D.V. Chanaka and three others have been remanded over the recent protest in Hambantota against the government's plan to sign an agreement with an Indian party over the Mattala airport.
The MPs were arrested after they appeared before the Hambantota police station to record a statement.
They were produced before the Magistrate after being arrested and were remanded till October 16.
The MPs were arrested for violating a court order issued by the Magistrate preventing public demonstrations in the area.
