President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday met the student B.D. Dulanjali Madumali Premarathna of Pahala Diggala Primary School belonging to the Galewala Education Zone, who became the first ever student succeeds in Grade 5 Scholarship Examination from that school.
The President praised the educational talents of Dulanjali Madumali Premarathna who gained 168 marks, passing the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination 2017, living amidst many economic difficulties as she had lost her father as well as lacking proper shelter. President Sirisena pledged to provide Rs.3,000 per month to the student until completion of her higher education.
Furthermore, Minister Sajith Premadasa who was present at this event, promised to build a new house for student Dulanjali Madumali Premarathna.
President Maithripala Sirisena handed over school books and many gifts adequate for a year to the student.
Pahala Diggala Primary School was established 45 years ago and currently 96 students are studying at the school. Dulanjali Madumali Premarathna is the only student who passed the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination from Pahala Diggala Primary School in its history.
The Principal Somasiri Attanayake, Galewala Zonal Education Director Nayomi Hettiarachchi, the mother of Dulanjali Madumali Premarathna and others participated in this event.
