Colpetty junction has been temporarily closed as Police take on anti-SAITM protestors, using water cannons and tear gas to disperse crowds.

Thousands of student protestors are on the march agitating for the closure of the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM).

Earlier today the Colombo Magistrates’ Court issued an order preventing protesting students from entering government property.

On June 21 a similar protest saw students storm the Health Ministry premises and cause damage to public property.
