Parliamentarian and Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) leader Udaya Gammanpila is to seek an order directing the Elections Commission to hold elections for the North Central, Sabaragamuwa and Eastern Provincial Councils.

The three provincial councils stand dissolved as at October 1, 2017.

Further, the MP yesterday filed a FR petition seeking to declare the passage of the Provincial Councils Amendment Bill as an infringement of fundamental rights guaranteed by Articles 10 and 12 of the Constitution.
