Video footage of a senior police officer assaulting a Joint Opposition protestor has surfaced online.
The video shows a policeman escorting the supporter when they are stopped by the senior police officer who proceeds to assault the supporter.
As many as 28 protesters were arrested after they converged outside the Indian Consulate in Hambantota this morning in protest of what they have termed ‘sinister elements’ trying to sell off state assets.
An order was issued by the Hambantota Magistrate yesterday preventing the protest this morning but the protestors went ahead with the planned protesting prompting a clash between protestors and security forces personnel.
Three police officers were injured in the clash that occurred this morning.
