Sports Minister Appoints Cricket Advisory Committee: ‘This Is My Last Try’ Says Mahela Jayawardene
Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera has appointed a Cricket Advisory Committee to restructure Sri Lanka Cricket.
Hemaka Amarasuriya has been appointed Chairman of the Advisory Committee with Anura Tennekoon, Aravinda de Silva, Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene serving on the team.
Meanwhile, in an interview with BBC Sinhala, former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene said this could be his ‘last try’ to save Sri Lanka Cricket.
"I don't know about the others, but as for me, this is the last time I will get involved," he said.
"This is not the first time I have spent my time trying to give back to the team, if our suggestions are ignored like it has been before, then this will be a useless exercise," he said.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has faced numerous charges against it’s management and former World Cup winning captain Arjuna Mahendran has squarely laid blame with President Thilanga Sumathipala.
Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera has appointed the Cricket Advisory Committee in a bid to straighten up the affairs at Sri Lanka Cricket and turn around the fortunes of the cricketers who faced a dismal series against India last month.
