Sinhala Ravaya’s Akmeemana Dayaratne Thera Arrested By CCD For Acts Of Aggression Against Rohingya Refugees

Sinhala Ravaya leader Akmeemana Dayaratne Thera was arrested by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD), a short while ago.

The monk was being investigated into acts of aggression against a group of Rohingya refugees from Myanmar.

The refugees – mostly women and children – were being sheltered at a safe house in Mount Lavinia when a group led by monks confronted them.

The Mount Lavinia Police intervened in the situation moved the Rohingya refugees from the safe house to the Boosa Camp for safekeeping.
