Sri Lanka Army Launches Tree Planting Campaign In Kilinochchi: 135, 000 Saplings To Be Planted

The Sri Lanka Army in Kilinochchi has launched a major tree-planting campaign in Kilinochchi.

Accordingly, 135,000 saplings will be planted in the region.

Varieties of plant saplings include jak, coconut, kumbuk, margosa, maadam, malla, maara, cashew, weera, palu, orange, arecanut, breadfruit etc.

The program has been launched by the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) in keeping with 'Wana Ropa' National Tree Planting Programme.

A sapling distribution ceremony was held in this regard on 25th September where, 2,000 saplings were distributed among civilians and troops in Kilinochchi.

These saplings are collected from the troops serving in the 57 Division.

It is expected to plant 100,000 saplings in the heart of Kilinochchi and surrounding areas while the balance 35,000 plants will be distributed among all respective battalions under 57 Division and the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN).
