The government, in a bid to boost self-employment, has decided to give 1, 000 electric motorcycles to fisherwomen.

The proposal, brought by the State Minister of Fisheries Dilip Wedaarachchi, was approved by the National Fisheries Federation Board of Directors.  

State Minister of Fisheries Dilip Wedaarachchi said that he would take every step to strengthen the country’s economy by supplying the global fish requirement.

Addressing the first meeting of the Board of Directors the State Minister said he would lead the federation to achieving the task, in cooperation with international organizations.

At the meeting a set of proposals for the wellbeing of the fisheries industry and the community were presented to the Board of Directors by the State Minister.
