The Police said 31 Rohingya refugees, who are currently under the custody of Sri Lanka's law enforcement authorities, have been sent to the Boossa detention camp. 

"They will be stationed at the Boossa camp until we get instruction from courts," a senior Police officer told Asian Mirror. 

Security has been beefed up in the area as protests broke out, last evening, against Sri Lanka sheltering Rohingya refugees. 

 They were taken into Police custody while hiding in a safe house in Mount Lavinia. 

A group of Buddhist monks, who surrounded the safe house last morning, sought the Police intervention to arrest the refugees. The monks said their presence in Sri Lanka was a grave threat to national security. 

It was later revealed that the United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR) was aware of their presence in Sri Lanka.
