Local Government and Provincial Councils Minister Faiszer Mustapha this afternoon presented the Urban Council, Municipal Council and Pradeshiya Sabha Amendment Bills to Parliament.

The Urban Council, Municipal Council and Pradeshiya Sabha Amendment Bills are to be passed in order to facilitate the holding of the Local Government elections.

The Local Government elections will be held under the proposed new hybrid system, which incorporates the First-Past-the-Post and Proportional Representations methods.
