A ceremony for the 58th commemoration of the late Prime Minister S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike will be near the S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike statue in Horagolla this morning.

The event will be held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.

Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunge, family members, ministers and MPs, and heads of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) will participate on this occasion.

Solomon West Ridgeway Dias Bandaranaike founded the SLFP and was the fourth Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.

He was assassinated by Talduwe Somarama, a Buddhist monk, on September 26, 1959, at the age of 60.
