State Minister of Finance Eran Wickremaratne yesterday congratulated Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne on reducing the price of medicinal drugs.

“We know that there is a drug mafia. Drugs were imported and sold for a higher price. From 1976 -2017 a drug policy could not be introduced, but the present Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne achieved it: He was able to reduce the price of 48 drugs”, he said.

He made these comments joining the debate on the National Drug Regulatory Authority Act in parliament yesterday (22nd Sept.).

State Minister Wickremaratne said the government’s health policy is centered around the people and not the doctor.
