The Colombo High Court this morning granted bail to former President’s Secretary Lalith Weeratunga and former Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) Director General Anusha Palpita.
The two men were convicted in the ‘Sil Redi’ case by the High Court on September 7 and were ordered to three years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and to pay a fine of Rs. 2 million each and Rs. 50 million each to the TRC.
On September 11, lawyers appearing for Lalith Weeratunga and Anusha Palpita filed an appeal against the Colombo High Court decision at the Appeals Court.
Bail was granted to the two men until the appeal is heard at the Appeals Court.
