President Maithripala Sirisena, who is currently in New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), said he was excited to listen to US President Donald Trump's maiden UN speech.
"Leaving for #UNHQ to attend 72nd #UNGA.Looking forward to listen to new Secretary General @antonioguterres and US President @realDonaldTrump," Sirisena said, in a Twitter message, a short while ago.
The “entire world” is threatened by the nuclear threat in North Korea, Trump said, in his speech at the UN General Assembly..
“We have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea,” Trump said.
He said the member states must work together to confront “rogue regimes”.
“If the righteous many do not confront the wicked few, then evil will triumph,” the US President added.
The Sri Lankan President is expected to address the UN General Assembly in the wee hours of Thursday.
