Showers and thundershowers are expected to continue across most parts of the island, the Meteorological Department said today.

It said that while showers will occur in the Western and Southern provinces in the morning, most showers and thundershowers would occur after 2 p.m.

Fairly heavy falls of above 50 m are expected at some places, particularly in North-central province and in the Matale district, the Meteorological Department said.

It said there may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers and warned the general public to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by lightning activity.
