Heavy traffic has been reported from the Kiribathgoda area where two groups of people are protesting for and against Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka.

The protests come in wake of comments made by the Field Marshall that former Army Commander Jagath Jayasuriya was responsible for atrocities committed during the war.

One set of protesters are calling for Fonseka to be held responsible for his comments against a former Army Commander, while others are pledging their support to Fonseka.

Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka has said that he was willing to testify against the former Army Commander who is currently stationed as an Ambassador in Brazil.

Several human rights groups in Brazil have filed a petition against former Army chief Jagath Jayasuriya seeking to remove him on allegations of war crimes.
