Former Development Lotteries Board (DLB) Chairman Sarana Gunawardene was arrested by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) this morning for the misuse of state-owned property.

Gunawardene was previously convicted of failure to declare his assets and was fined Rs. 2, 000 by the Colombo Chief Magistrates’ Court in August.

Gunawardene has nine cases pending against him at the Bribery Commission over alleged corruption committed by him while he was Chairman of the DLB between 2005 and 2007.
