The All Ceylon Canteen Owners Association (ACCOA) has decided to increase the price of a packet of lunch by Rs. 10, in view of the ban on select polythene products that comes into effect today (1).
The government of Sri Lanka this morning issued a Gazette banning the manufacture or use of polythene products of 20 microns or below.
The Gazette bans the manufacture, sale or use of food containers, plates, cups and spoons made out of expanded polystyrene.
The ACCOA, in view of the ban on lunch sheets and polystyrene boxes has decided to increase the price of a packet of lunch to offset any additional costs incurred in sourcing alternate material.
